Can a parent pay in installments?

Yes. Any payment amount less than the full invoice balance is accepted as a partial payment — the invoice moves to Part Paid, and further payments keep reducing the balance until it reaches Paid. If the due date passes before the balance clears, the invoice becomes Overdue, but payments can still be collected against it; the status corrects itself automatically as the balance drops.
